Thank you for choosing The Engen Hus B&B for your stay in Salt Lake City.

By making a booking to stay with us, you are entering a legal contract that is subject to the following terms and conditions:

PRICES

Our prices indicated on our website are per bedroom (double occupancy) and include full hot breakfast for two.

ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE TIMES

Arrival: Check-in time on your first day is between 3pm and 6pm unless otherwise pre-arranged.
 
Departure: Unless varied by prior mutual agreement, on the day of departure, we kindly request that you vacate your bedroom by 11am to allow us time to prepare it for our next guests.

CHILDREN

For the peace and relaxation of our guests we can only accommodate children of 12 and over who can be left in their bedroom without supervision.

However, when the whole house has been booked out by one group, young children can be included by prior arrangement.

WHEELCHAIR USERS

We are very sorry to say that The Engen Hus Bed and Breakfast only has stairs to the second floor so the two rooms upstairs, Catherine and Florence are not accessible by wheelchair. Our Corey room is handicap friendly and accessible by wheelchair.

DOGS AND PETS

Very regrettably, no dogs or pets are allowed at The Engen Hus Bed and Breakfast.

NON SMOKING

We have a no-smoking policy throughout the house. If any guest smokes in any part of the house, the guest agrees to pay for a professional tobacco and smoke odor removal service.

MAKING A BOOKING

Booking must be paid by credit/debit card, so we will need your credit/debit card details at hand, please. Your details will only be used by The Engen Hus Bed and Breakfast and we will not share them with any third party. For further details of our Privacy Policy see policy below

Special Requirements: If you or any member of your party has any special requirements – i.e. dietary – please let us know at the time of making the booking.

CANCELLATION, CURTAILMENT AND POSTPONEMENT

We respectfully remind guests that a reservation constitutes a contract and that cancellations cause loss to small establishments. Please be aware that these Terms and Conditions overrule any or card scheme rules that your credit/debit card provider may offer or have in place.

Cancellation: 50% of paid prepayments refundable when canceled 7 days before arrival or earlier. 0% of paid prepayments refundable if cancelled after. If you need to cancel your booking, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can attempt to re-rent the room.

Curtailment:  If you have to curtail your booking in advance of, or during your stay, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can attempt to re-rent the room for the days you cannot stay. If we cannot re-rent the room, then you will still be liable for the remaining outstanding balance. If we are able to re-rent the room for part of your remaining booking, then you will only be liable for any days that the room is not re-rented.

Non-Arrivals: Should you fail to arrive without letting us know, there will be a charge for the full outstanding balance.

Third Party Bookings: If the person paying for the booking is different to the person taking up the occupation, the person who pays for the booking may be held responsible for cancellation, curtailment or non-arrival fees as well as damage or loss, and appropriate charges will be taken from their credit/debit card.

Postponements: If you need to postpone your booking, please give us a much notice as possible so that we can try to re-rent your room. We will be happy to transfer your non-refundable deposit to a new booking.

GIFT VOUCHERS

The Engen Hus E-Gift cards may be used to secure a booking. Please note that once a booking has been made, our Cancellations, Curtailment and Non-Arrivals or Postponement conditions detailed above apply and, if we cannot re-rent the room(s), the E-Gift card will no longer be valid.

NON-AVAILABILITY OF ACCOMMODATION

We would only cancel your booking if your room was unavailable for reasons beyond our control. We would however attempt to offer you alternative accommodation. If this was not possible, or unacceptable to you, then we would refund the full amount paid by you for the booking. Our liability would not extend beyond this refund.

DURING YOUR STAY

Our aim is to offer all our guests a relaxing and tranquil stay and we kindly ask guests to respect the quiet enjoyment and relaxation of other guests.

Housekeeping: We happily provide daily housekeeping upon request of the guest. We will check the room daily to empty trash. We respect your space and privacy so will not make the bed or move any personal items to clean unless requested to do so. If you would like your bed made or towels and sheets laundered please feel free to let us know. We would be more than happy to complete these housekeeping tasks for you.

Visitors to rooms: Guests are not permitted to have visitors to their rooms without our prior agreement.

Accidents happen: Please let us know immediately of any damage or spillage so that we can attempt a speedy repair or clean. Spillages are more easily rectified the sooner they are dealt with. Any significant breakage or damage may result in a charge for replacement, repair or specialist cleaning. If the damage means the room cannot be made available in good time for the next arriving guests, you may also be liable for our loss of income.

Missing / Lost items: Any item taken from the rooms without our consent will be charged for. Lost keys, or keys not returned, will incur a $25 charge.

Liability: We do not accept any liability for any damage, loss or injury to any member of your party or any vehicles or possessions, unless proven to be caused by a negligent act by ourselves.

PRIVACY POLICY

This Privacy Policy explains how The Engen Hus Bed and Breakfast uses and protects personal information to ensure that we provide a high level of service in all our communications and the way we interact with our guests. We are committed to safeguarding the privacy of the personal information that we gather.

 

As an Engen Hus guest, or anyone that we do business with, we will collect, use and disclose your personal information in accordance with the below.

 

1. THE INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Personal data regarding guests, other individuals with whom we do business or who visit us may be collected in an electronic, oral or written format, in the form of:

  1. Title, name, telephone number, e-mail address, postal address including postcode, access requirements, nationality, credit/debit card details, dietary requirements, business details.

  2. Transaction information: including payment, reservation and booking details.

  3. Participation details including events, special occasions and others, where you provide us with detailed information such as menu pre-orders.

  4. Guest stay information, including dates of arrival and departure, special requests made, observations regarding room and food and beverage preferences, information necessary to fulfil special health condition related requests.

  5. Customer communication preferences and feedback, including marketing preferences.

 

2. USE OF DATA THAT WE COLLECT

Data is used for the following and will be held as long as is necessary to fulfil the purpose.

  1. To provide and charge for bed and breakfast accommodation, events and other goods and services.

  2. To send information communications (e.g. reservation and booking confirmations/enquiry replies/payment, detail and appointment reminders/follow ups etc) and seasonal greetings.

  3. Advertising, analytics and for sending marketing communications such as a newsletter. If you have agreed to receive marketing communications from us, you may opt out or change your marketing preferences at any time by contacting us.

  4. To provide for the safety and security of staff, guests and visitors.

  5. To fulfil contracted agreements to companies such as those arranging group travel or company accommodation.

  6. To process credit applications.

Data is used exclusively by the Engen Hus Bed and Breakfast and its authorized partners. Data collected will not be passed on or sold to any other third parties.

 

3.STORAGE OF DATA AND SECURITY

The Engen Hus Bed and Breakfast does not store any credit card details. Card data is kept for the time required to process a transaction or reservation. We take the security of any personal information we hold very seriously.

However, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. We cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to our site: any transmission is at your risk. Once we have received your information, we will handle it in accordance with our usual practices.

 

4. SHARING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION WITH THIRD PARTIES

We may disclose your personal information to (in so far as this is in line with our data protection laws):

A buyer in the event that we are acquired by a third party (as your information may be one of the transferring assets); and/or any third party where we are under a legal duty to do so, or in order to enforce or protect any of our rights, property or safety (or those of our customers). This includes exchanging information with other companies and organizations for the purposes of fraud protection and credit risk reduction.

Where personal information is processed on our behalf by third parties (such as for the purposes of processing your room booking) there are measures in place to keep your information secure.

Your company: if there is an agreement in place for your company to pay for your stay, the details of your stay will be sent across in the specified manner.

We reserve the right to disclose any personal information we have concerning you if we are compelled to do so by a court of law or lawfully requested to do so by a governmental entity or if we determine it is necessary or desirable to comply with the law or to protect or defend our rights or property in accordance with applicable laws.

When you link to other websites, mobile sites or apps we are not responsible or liable for them. You should read the privacy policies for those linked sites or apps before you submit any personal information to them.

You may see targeted advertisements based on information collected by us or third parties and/or may be based on your activities on our websites or third-party websites.

 

5.COOKIES AND OUR WEBSITE

The Engen Hus Bed and Breakfast uses cookies, which are small text files that contain small amounts of information that a website can send to, and store on, your computer or device through your browser. Cookies may be used by us to provide you with, for example, customized information from our website to make it more user-friendly. Cookies by themselves cannot be used to reveal your identity. They identify your browser, but not you, to our servers when you visit our website.

By using our website, you agree to our privacy and cookie policies and consent to the use of cookies and similar technologies by us and our carefully selected third party partners as described in these policies. Our website contains links to third party social media platforms. You will be able to activate them manually. If you do so, the third parties who operate these platforms may be able to identify you, they may be able to determine how you use this website and they may link and store this information with your social media profile. If you follow these links, you will be doing so at your own risk.

If you click on a link found on our website, you should always look at the location bar within your browser to determine whether you have been linked to a different website. This policy is limited to our own information collection practices.

We are not responsible for the information, collection practices or privacy policies of other websites maintained by third parties where you submit your personal information. These links are provided for your convenience only. We do not control such websites and are not responsible for their content. Our website does not sell products or services for purchase by children (under the age of 18 and we do not knowingly solicit or collect personal information from children.

 

9. ACCESSING DATA

You have the right to access your personal data. We want to make sure that your personal information is accurate and up to date. You may ask us to correct or remove contact information you think is inaccurate by contacting us.

You also have the right to request a copy of the personal information that we hold about you. To do so, please contact us.

All requests for access to your personal information must be submitted in writing to Esther Cuellar by letter or e-mail (esther@engenhusutah.com) and proof of ID will need to be provided. We may respond to your request by letter, e-mail, telephone or other suitable method.

We will abide by any request from you not to send you direct marketing materials. When such a request is received, your contact details will be 'suppressed' rather than deleted. This will ensure that your request is recorded and retained unless you provide a later consent that overrides it.

You may request that we correct, cancel, and/or stop processing or using personal information that we hold about you. If we agree that the personal information is incorrect, or that the processing should be stopped, we will delete or correct the personal information. If we do not agree that the personal information is incorrect, we will tell you that we do not agree, explain our refusal to you and record the fact that you consider that personal information to be incorrect in the relevant file(s).

We keep our privacy policy under regular review, and we will place any updates on our website, this policy has an effective date set out at the end of this document.
