Where we came from…
Salt Lake City B&B
The three Engen brothers competed internationally and were all inducted into the National Ski Hall of Fame. Corey, the owner of this house, was the captain of the 1948 U.S. Olympic ski team. For some time, Alf held the world record for longest Nordic jump – over 300 feet. Check out the Alf Engen Museum in Park City.
In the late 1940’s the Engen families built five log cabins on a five-acre plot of land on Big Cottonwood Canyon Road. The timbers were harvested from a forest fire in Montana. Skiers from all over the world began to use the cabins as their base camp.
In the late 1980’s Engen Hus became a Bed and Breakfast, called Log Cabin on the Hill.
In 2014 Doug and Karen Stewart bought the house, added a second floor and lots of wonderful modern updates, and honored the cabin’s rich history with a new name—The Engen Hus Bed & Breakfast.
They ran this B&B in Salt Lake City with love and joy until the beginning of 2020 when they felt they had done a great job, and their work was done. They began to pray that God would bring someone to take their place.
Where we are…
In February of 2020 I began to pray God would bring this about. Less than a week later I met Doug and Karen Stewart and fell in love with The Engen Hus Bed and Breakfast.
A month later I moved in and began running the B&B full time.
Today The Engen Hus Bed & Breakfast is a luxury retreat to relax and recharge. It’s an ideal base camp for your ultimate ski vacation. It’s your next pampered fully catered corporate retreat. It’s your new home away from home.
Where we are going…
Our dream is to expand the current B&B to include the other 4 historic Engen Cabins to create The Engen Lodges. We seek to preserve the Engen history, to create the ultimate ski base camp and provide a place of rest for gospel workers for decades to come.
